We are first generation.

First Generation Professionals of Milwaukee was founded as an approachable, accessible resource for those students and young professionals that dare to dream outside of their comfort zones. Governed by an all-first generation Board of Directors, we understand the unique needs and obstacles of those students and young professionals who are seeking to expand their careers, networks, and worldviews. We seek to provide the resources we lacked as we began our professional journeys and hope you will join us to positively impact the future of Milwaukee’s business community.

Entering the workforce as a first generation professional can be a daunting experience. There are new expectations, new vocabulary, and even new standards of behavior, much of which may not be outlined in an employee handbook. FGPM was founded to assist in the navigation of these aspects of corporate life. Through mentorship connections, FAQ content, interviews and panels with Milwaukee’s community leaders, and community initiatives, FGPM helps bridge the disconnect and uplift the next generation of Milwaukee’s young professionals.

Authentic Leadership

All FGPM Directors are proud first generation professionals. We represent committed mentors and hardworking mentees, as well as three generations of work experiences and career paths. Our Board includes a tenured veteran, two experienced fundraisers, and an award-winning creative designer. But we all understand the unique difficulties of being first to an education level or professional field and hope to address those unique stressors through innovative and meaningful resources.
