Supporting first generation students & professionals
Our Mission
The mission of First Generation Professionals of Milwaukee is to support the interests and goals of first generation students and professionals by providing meaningful professional resources and facilitating cross-generational mentorship. While there are several working definitions of “first generation,” FGPM considers “first generation professional” to be, “the first student or professional in a community, family, or similar group to achieve academic or professional success at a new level, or to enter a new field or industry, and who is seeking the advice or guidance of an established professional within that academic level or field.”

What we do
Assisting and Uplifting
First Generation Professionals of Milwaukee believes anyone who seeks to enter corporate life should have access to the proper tools for success. FGPM serves Milwaukee’s first generation professionals by answering common workplace questions, unpacking professional norms, and providing practical advice to those navigating professional life for the first time. We also offer meaningful programming, interviews, and other opportunities to learn about corporate life from established professionals and Milwaukee’s community leaders. While our focus is first generation professionals, you do not have to be a first generation professional to join our organization or participate in any of our programming!

DONATIONS
We couldn’t do this without your support
In an effort to make FGPM as accessible to young professionals as possible, we have decided to forego membership dues for both general membership and participation in the Mentorship Program. For this reason, we are seeking public support through donations to continue to further our mission. FGPM is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
If you would like to get involved through a programming sponsorship or in-kind donation, please email president@fgpm.org.
